Convention 2018

Join us on August 16 (Trail End Dance), 17 and 18, 2018 for the 56^th Annual State Convention. We'll be at the Lansing Center, 333 E Michigan Ave Lansing, MI 48933.

What You Can Expect for 2018!

• Thursday Night August 16, 7:00-10:00 p.m. Trail End Dance: Don’t miss this special dance with Featured Caller, Jack Pladdys of Ohio and Featured Cuers, Tony & Carolyn Ahart from Missouri. Free admission with your “Dance a Tip in the Middle of the Mitt” ribbon. $10.00 admission per person if you are not registered for the 2018 Michigan Square and Round Dance Convention.

Our featured caller and cuers will be with us all weekend!

Friday and Saturday-10:00 am till 10:00 pm

Saturday After Party

10:00 pm till 11:00 pm

• Friday: Caller's Seminar; Square Dance Games; Duets with Jack Pladdys

• Saturday: Competition Squares (with prizes for the first ($300), second ($200), & third ($100) place teams!); After Party; Duets with Jack Pladdys

5 Halls of DANCING ...

• Main Dance Hall: Plus, Ph. II Rounds each hour Friday and Saturday evenings, Competition Squares, Hot Hash and Duets

• North Pointe Cafe: Mainstream, Plus, Easy Rounds, Lines, Traditional, Hot Hash and Duets

• Advanced/C1 Hall

• Easy Round Dance Hall: Phase II-III Rounds, Showcase Teaches

• High Level Round Dance Hall: Phase III-V, Showcase Teaches

• Theme baskets have always been a highlight of our State Convention. This year’s format will be a raffle. All clubs, as well as individuals, are invited to create and donate a basket. Associations are encouraged to donate a basket with free dance passes for every club that is a member of their association. Please submit this form by August 1, 2018. Proceeds will be used toward the cost of wood dance floors in the halls for the convention.

Schedule

Thursday: Trail-In Dance 7:00-10:00 p.m. (casual attire acceptable)

Friday: 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. (casual until 7:00 p.m.)

Saturday: 10:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. (casual until 6:30 p.m.)

Saturday: 10:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. After Party

Dance Registration

Get your advanced tickets early (before June 1, 2018) for the weekend package at an exceptional value of only $30 per person. At the door, weekend ticket package cost is only $35 per person. Youth under the age of 18 years may attend for free.
